At St Ninian’s we place great emphasis on ensuring that all students are able to fulfil their potential and maximise progress whilst studying with us. The Pupil Premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other disadvantaged families and their peers.
Parents were eligible to apply for PP funding if they were in receipt of a range of benefits these have now been rolled into a single benefit, called Universal Credit. From April 2018, free school meals and pupil premium will only be allocated to pupils with a family income under £7400 (net) per year.
The Pupil Premium is designed to ensure that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. The funding is allocated to the Local Authorities and schools with pupils from Reception to Year 11 who are eligible for free school meals, are looked after or have parents currently in the armed forces.
